The IEI Tiruvallur Local Centre (TVLC) organized its 47th Technical Lecture on “Business Opportunity with OpenSource Satellite Images” on 26th August 2025 at CAR Lab, Anna Block, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Deborah, Professor of ECE, who explained the potential of open-source satellite data for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The lecture covered real-world applications of satellite images in agriculture, urban planning, environmental monitoring, and disaster management. It encouraged interdisciplinary thinking and showcased how satellite data can integrate with AI, IoT, and geospatial technologies. Practical case studies were discussed, and participants gained clarity on how open data policies can reduce costs and drive innovation.
Around 50 students and faculty members attended the session. The event inspired participants to explore careers and research opportunities in remote sensing, GIS, AI-based image analytics, and space entrepreneurship. The session concluded with a vote of thanks to the speaker, attendees, and Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute for their support as venue partner.
