The 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the IEI Tiruvallur Local Centre was held on 16th November 2025 at 6:30 PM at the Towers Club, Igloo Hall, Anna Nagar, Chennai. The meeting began with a warm welcome address by Dr. J. Balamurugan, FIE, Chairman (2023–2025), after which the formal agenda items were taken up.
The Minutes of the 8th AGM held on 21st November 2024 were confirmed as circulated, with approval proposed by Dr. L. Ramesh and seconded by Dr. Prakash. The Audited Accounts and Annual Report for the financial year ending 31st March 2025 were presented by Dr. V. Cyril Raj, MIE, Honorary Secretary, reviewed by the members, and adopted with the proposal of Dr. A. Vinoth Kumar and support of F. Antony Xavier Bronson.
For the financial year 2025–2026, M/s S. Shanker & Associates, Chartered Accountants, were confirmed to continue as auditors at the existing remuneration of Rs. 7500 + GST. The newly elected IEI TVLC Committee for the 2025–2027 Sessions was announced, with Dr. G. Saravanan as Chairman, Dr. G. P. Ramesh as Honorary Secretary, and Dr. J. Balamurugan, Dr. V. Cyril Raj, and Dr. L. Ramesh introduced as Past Immediate Chairman, Past Immediate Hon. Secretary, and Past Chairman respectively. Committee members representing various engineering divisions and the Ex-Officio members—Er. D. Gokul, Dr. G. Jayarajan, Er. Saravanan E, and Dr. Balasubramanian—were also introduced.
During the AGM, prestigious IEI TVLC Awards – 2025 were presented to honour distinguished contributions from academia, industry, and the engineering community.
The Lifetime Achievement Award – 2025 was conferred upon Shri. V. Ranganathan (Former Programme Director, ISRO) in profound recognition of his illustrious career and lifelong contributions to India’s space programme. His exceptional service as Former Professor & Satish Dhawan Scientist, Former Outstanding Scientist, ISRO, and his leadership roles as Controller and Deputy Director, SDSC SHAR, significantly advanced national space capability. His visionary guidance as Programme Director (Capacity Building), ISRO and Project Director, SPAG Project, along with his decades of contributions as a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India) and his involvement in HEMSI, ISSE, ISNT, and IICHE, highlight his extraordinary legacy. The award was presented with deepest respect and gratitude.
The IEI TVLC Eminent Engineer Award – 2025 was presented to Mr. Baskar Radhakrishnan, Managing Director, Baettr India Pvt. Ltd., for his remarkable 29-year engineering career across the automotive and wind sectors. His expertise as a Six Sigma Black Belt, ISI-certified Master Black Belt, and his mastery of PPAP, 8D, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and other quality systems, along with his leadership in continuous improvement, value-stream transformation, and COPQ reduction, have significantly advanced engineering excellence and organisational development.
The IEI TVLC Academic Participation Outreach Award – 2025 was awarded to Dr. J. Prakash, Principal, T.J.S. Engineering College, in recognition of his exceptional commitment and outstanding support in enabling the highest student participation in IEI TVLC events during 2024–2025.
The IEI TVLC Industry Participation Outreach Award – 2025 was presented to Er. Veerasami Venkatesan, Senior Section Engineer – CNW, for his invaluable support in strengthening industry collaboration for IEI TVLC. His contributions in facilitating industrial visits, technical exposure, and training opportunities have greatly enhanced students’ practical learning and reinforced strong industry–academia linkage.
