The IEI Tiruvallur Local Centre organized its 46th Technical Lecture on 30th July 2025 at the CAR Lab, Anna Block, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, with the theme “Semiconducting Manufacturing Process and Testing Eco System.” The session aimed to provide students and faculty members with an in-depth understanding of the semiconductor fabrication process and the testing methodologies that support modern electronic and medical device development.

Mr. Christopher Thanaraj, Senior Engineering Program Manager and Consultant in the fields of Semiconductor and Medical Devices, served as the guest speaker. With extensive industry experience, he shared valuable insights into the entire semiconductor production lifecycle, including wafer fabrication, doping, photolithography, IC packaging, and various testing techniques such as functional, reliability, and parametric testing. He also emphasized the significance of global quality standards and compliance protocols in electronics manufacturing.

The 90-minute lecture, conducted from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, was attended by 50 participants, including students from Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, and Biomedical departments, along with faculty members and IEI staff coordinator.

The session encouraged interdisciplinary thinking and helped participants connect academic concepts with real-world applications of semiconductors in fields like AI, automotive systems, healthcare, and computing. It also motivated students to explore careers in VLSI design, microelectronics, and the broader semiconductor industry.
