The The Institution of Engineers (India)IEI Tiruvallur Local Centre organized its milestone 50th Technical Lecture on 29 January 2026 through an online session. The programme focused on introducing the 5S workplace management methodology and was attended by faculty members, engineering students, IEI coordinators, and professional engineers. The lecture aimed to create awareness about structured workplace practices that enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity across engineering and industrial environments.

The session was delivered by Dr. G. Saravanan, Facility & Strategy Manager at Caterpillar India Private Limited, who explained the five pillars of 5S—Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain—supported by practical industrial insights and implementation strategies. Participants gained exposure to workplace organization techniques, waste minimization approaches, and safety-oriented practices, strengthening their understanding of real-world industrial management. The programme concluded with appreciation to the speaker and attendees, reaffirming IEI TVLC’s commitment to promoting professional skill development, industry–academia interaction, and technical excellence.
