The Institution of Engineers (India), Tiruvallur Local Centre (IEI TVLC) successfully organized the 52nd Technical Lecture on 10th April 2026 at Dr. M.G.R. Educational & Research Institute for professional members, engineering students, faculty members, and IEI coordinators. The lecture, titled “The Invisible Foundation – The Role of Standards in the Industrial Revolution and Their Impact on Daily Life,” was delivered by Mr. Vijayakumar M., Advisor, Voltech Engineers Pvt. Ltd.

During the session, the speaker highlighted the evolution of standards from the Industrial Revolution to modern engineering practices, emphasizing their importance in ensuring quality, safety, efficiency, and global interoperability across industries. Through practical examples, participants gained valuable insights into the significance of standardization and its influence on engineering processes as well as everyday life.

The programme witnessed the participation of 25 attendees and served as an effective platform for knowledge sharing and professional development. The lecture enhanced participants’ understanding of the vital role of standards in industrial growth and reinforced IEI TVLC’s commitment to promoting continuous learning and technical excellence among engineering professionals and students.
