The IEI Tiruvallur Local Centre successfully organized a technical lecture in celebration of “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day” on 16th May 2025 at the Seminar Hall, Dr. MGR University, Main Campus. Themed “5G Mobile Network Features and Case Studies,” the session focused on the transformative role of 5G in modern communication and digital infrastructure.
Mr. Baskar R., Sub Divisional Engineer at Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Telecom Training Centre (RGM TTC), served as the keynote speaker. With his deep expertise in telecom infrastructure, Mr. Baskar delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the core architecture of 5G, its enhanced capabilities over previous generations, and its real-world applications in sectors such as healthcare, smart cities, and industrial automation.
The 90-minute session, held from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, drew 95 participants including ECE and CSE students, faculty members, researchers, and tech enthusiasts. Attendees gained valuable insights into 5G’s low latency, high speed, and device-dense connectivity, as well as the role of this technology in enabling IoT, edge computing, and other emerging innovations.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating Mr. Baskar R. for his engaging session and thanking all attendees for their active participation. The lecture effectively bridged academic learning with practical case studies, fostering a greater understanding of the evolving landscape of wireless communication and digital transformation in India.
